Humpback Whales and Marine Mammals of Alaska
July 20-27, 2009 - Juneau, Alaska
(In conjunction with Santa Fe Workshops)
Six days of photography on the marine-life filled waters of Auk Bay and the Inside Passage. Groups of Humpback whales spend their summer in these Arctic waters feeding on krill and other nutrients, and preforming amazing "bubble-net" and lunge feeeding techniques.  You'll be right there to witness and record the tail slaps, pectoral fin waves, and spectacular "breaching" where a forty-five-foot whales leaps almost entirely out of the water!  We should also otters, seals, and a wide variety of marine birds.
We will have our own 40 foot charter boat which will take us to various sites around the rich waters near Juneau Alaska (see photo below left). With a maximum of 10 participants there will be plenty of room to move around and get your best angle of the action. Bob and Scott will both be there each day to answer your questions and help out when necessary.  Lunch will be provided on the boat each day.  In the evenings we will return to the Goldbelt Hotel where we will have photo classes and review your images. Finally,  you can enjoy dinner on your own in one of Juneau's restaurants.  Keep in mind, that this is Alaska and while it is Summer, weather in Alaska is never guaranteed and quickly changable
Included: 6 days on our group’s 40’ charter boat, all transportation to and from the boat, hotel (double occupancy), lunches on the boat, all instruction including classroom and in the field assistance.
Price: $3500
